Ingredients

2 to 3 large onions
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
3/4 c. milk
1 egg
2 Tbsp. melted fat
Preparation

Peel onions; slice into 1/4-inch slices.
Separate into rings. Sift flour with baking powder, salt and sugar.
Combine milk, egg and fat; add to dry ingredients all at once.
Beat until smooth. Dip onion rings in batter; fry until golden brown in deep fat at 375\u00b0.
Drain on absorbent paper.
Sprinkle with additional salt. Yields 4 servings.
