Coconut Pecan Frosting And Filling - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. evaporated milk
    1 c. sugar
    3 egg yolks
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/3 c. coconut (approximately)
    1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Combine milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter and vanilla in a saucepan.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 12 minutes.
    Remove from heat.
    Add coconut and pecans.
    Beat until cool and of spreading consistency.
    Makes 2 2/3 cups or enough for tops of three 8 or 9-inch layers.
