Candied Sweet Potatoes(Published In Asheville Times Newspaper, 1936) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 medium sweet potatoes
    1/2 c. corn syrup
    3 Tbsp. butter
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. brown sugar
Preparation
    Boil sweet potatoes until fairly tender, but not done.
    Allow the potatoes to cool.
    Skin them and cut lengthwise in halves. Arrange the pieces in one layer in a buttered baking dish or shallow pan; do not pack too closely.
    Boil corn syrup or maple syrup, brown sugar, butter and salt until thickened.
    Pour the syrup over the potatoes.
    Bake in 300\u00b0 oven 45 minutes to one hour, turning pieces carefully and browning on both sides.
