Beet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    1 tsp. cloves
    2 tsp. salt
    2 gal. raw beets
Preparation
    Wash beets and boil until fork-tender.
    Peel and cut to desired size.
    Boil vinegar, sugar, cloves and salt.
    Add beets and reheat to boiling.
    Pack into jars and cover with liquid. Seal.
