Sale Creek Strawberry Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 baked pastry shell
    1 qt. strawberries
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. boiling water
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch plus enough cold water to make a paste
    1 c. whipping cream
Preparation
    Bring to a boil and strain 1 cup of the smallest berries, the sugar and the boiling water.
    Now add the cornstarch mixture. Cook over the fire for a couple of minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from fire and beat.
    Return to a slow fire and cook slowly until thick.
    Have ready a baked pie shell.
    Arrange the rest of the berries, which have been washed and picked over, in the pie shell.
    Pour the hot sauce over them.
    When cool, spread with whipped cream that has been sweetened with powdered sugar.
