Italian Chops And Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 lean pork chops
    salt and pepper for chops
    1 1/2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1 large onion, sliced
    1 green pepper, sliced
    1 (14 to 16 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 c. chicken broth
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. each: oregano and basil
    1/4 tsp. garlic powder
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 c. uncooked rice
Preparation
    Season chops with salt and pepper to taste.
    Brown on both sides in oil in a large ovenproof skillet.
    Remove chops and set aside.
    Add onion and green pepper and saute until tender-crisp. Stir in tomatoes, broth, seasonings and rice.
    Bring to a boil. Arrange chops on top.
    Cover.
    Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
    Fluff rice with fork.
    Makes 6 servings with 409 calories per serving.
