Popcorn Balls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. dark syrup
    1 c. packed brown sugar
    1/4 c. water
    1 tsp. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. butter or oleo
    2 qt. unsalted popped corn
Preparation
    Mix first 4 ingredients in saucepan.
    Cook until mixture boils, continue cooking, stirring constantly, until a hard ball forms when dropped in very cold water or 260\u00b0 on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat and quickly blend in butter or oleo. Pour slowly over popped corn in a large bowl, mixing well. Shape into balls using as little pressure as possible. Butter hands, if necessary.
    Mixture will be very hot.
    Keep a bowl of cold water for dipping hands to cool.
    Makes 14 medium balls.
