Tamale Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. cornmeal (stone ground, if available)
    1 lb. lean ground beef or ground round
    1 small can tomatoes
    1 buffet size can ripe olives (pitted)
    2 onions, minced
    1 Tbsp. chili powder
    1/2 tsp. cumin
    1/4 lb. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
    1 qt. boiling water
Preparation
    Add cornmeal while stirring to the boiling water.
    Cook 20 minutes. Stir often to prevent lumping. Saute ground beef in 2 tablespoons oil (Mexican's would
    use lard). Add tomatoes, olives, onions and seasonings.
    Put half the cornmeal in the bottom of a 2-quart buttered casserole.
    Spread meat mixture on top.
    Cover with the rest of the cornmeal mush.
    Top with grated cheese. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    Serves 4 to 6.
