Chocolate Chip Blonde Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. nuts
    1/2 c. butter or shortening
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Sift first 4 ingredients together.
    Add chopped nuts and set aside.
    In saucepan, melt butter or shortening (if shortening, add 1 teaspoon hot water).
    Add brown sugar and mix well.
    Cool slightly and add slightly beaten egg and vanilla.
    Blend, then add flour mixture a small amount at a time.
    Spread in greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
    Sprinkle 1/2 package chocolate chips on top.
    Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Do not overbake.
    Cool in pan, then cut in bars.
    Will make 24 small bars.
