Crisp Taco Turnovers - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lean ground beef
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. chili powder
    2 c. shredded Monterey Jack cheese
    1 c. diced tomatoes
    4 large wheat flour tortillas
    oil for frying tortillas
Preparation
    Brown together ground beef, onion and garlic in a heavy frying pan over medium heat.
    Stir until meat loses its pinkness.
    Add salt and chili pepper.
    Place 1/2 cup ground beef filling, 1/2 cup cheese and 1/2 cup diced tomatoes onto 1/2 of each tortilla.
    Fold other half over.
    Remove any air pockets by pressing down.
    Pour oil into skillet to 1/4-inch depth.
    When oil is hot, place filled tortillas into pan a few at a time.
    Saute over medium to high heat until golden on each side, 45 seconds on each side.
    Remove from pan onto paper towels.
    Cut into wedges and serve.
