Mrs. Hodge'S No-Fail Popcorn Balls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/3 c. water
    1 stick margarine
    1/3 c. white syrup
    2 egg whites
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/3 c. water
    dash of salt
    2 tsp. white corn syrup
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Use double boiler.
    Combine all ingredients but vanilla.
    Beat egg whites 1 minute or until blended.
    Set in place over water. Beat constantly at full speed while cooking for 7 minutes or until stiff peaks form.
    Frequently scrape boiler.
    Remove from heat; add vanilla.
    Beat 1 or 2 minutes.
    (Don't scrape bowl too close.)
