Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. cucumbers, sliced
    4 c. vinegar
    3 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 1/2 Tbsp. celery seed
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    10 medium onions, sliced
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers; cover with 1/2 cup salt and ice for 3 hours. Drain water.
    Bring liquid to a boil.
    Add cucumbers and onions. Bring to a boil.
    Pack in hot jars and seal.
    (Have lids hot also.)
