Fresh Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 egg, beaten
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. fresh fruit (rhubarb is best)
    1/2 c. (3 oz. pkg.) strawberry gelatin
Preparation
    Mix first 8 ingredients as for a stiff cake batter.
    Put batter in slightly greased 6 x 10-inch glass baking dish.
    Put rhubarb on top of batter; sprinkle gelatin on top.
