Kris Kringles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 egg yolk, beaten
    1 Tbsp. grated orange peel
    1 tsp. grated lemon peel
    1 tsp. lemon juice
    1 c. flour
    1 slightly beaten egg white
    1 c. walnuts, ground fine
    1 jar maraschino cherries
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar; add egg yolk, orange and lemon peel and lemon juice.
    Beat well.
    Stir in flour and salt.
    Form small balls about 1/2 inch in diameter.
    Dip in egg white and roll in nuts.
    Press half a cherry in center.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 10 to 15 minutes.
