Southern Banana Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. Jell-O vanilla pudding
    2 large bananas, sliced
    3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
    2 1/2 doz. vanilla wafers
    3 3/4 c. milk
    3 egg whites
    1/3 c. sugar
    dash of salt
Preparation
    Combine pudding mix, egg yolks and milk in saucepan.
    Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a full boil.
    Remove from heat. Arrange layers of wafers in bottom of a 2-quart baking dish.
    Add a layer of banana slices and of pudding.
    Continue layering, ending with pudding.
    Beat egg whites with salt until foamy throughout.
    Gradually beat in sugar and continue beating. Mixture will form stiff, shiny peaks.
    Spoon lightly onto pudding, sealing edges well.
    Bake at 425\u00b0 for 5 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
    Makes 12 servings.
