Spiced Stew - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. beef (chuck), cubed
shortening
3 onions, chopped
water
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 scant Tbsp. lemon juice
2 small bay leaves
salt and pepper
Preparation

Brown meat in hot shortening. Add onions and enough water to nearly cover.
Mix sugar and cinnamon with lemon juice and add with bay leaves and salt and pepper to taste.
Cover, bring slowly to boiling point, then simmer until meat is tender, about 2 hours.
