Ingredients

1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 1/2 c. hot water
3/4 c. flour
1 c. white sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, dates and nuts. Pour into a greased 8 x 12 x 3-inch baking pan.
Pour brown sugar over (don't mix together).
Bake in slow oven for 40 minutes (300\u00b0 or less).
Does tend to boil over so larger container would be okay.
Cool.
Serve with whipped cream.
