Angel Thumbprint Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. soft margarine
    1/2 c. shortening
    3/4 c. brown sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. almond extract
    2 egg whites
    2 egg yolks
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. flour
    1 c. pecans, finely chopped
Preparation
    Beat margarine, sugar, egg yolks, shortening, salt and flavorings together until fluffy.
    Add sifted flour and mix well. Using a level tablespoon for measuring size, roll dough between palms and hands until ball is 1 inch in diameter.
    Dip the balls into unbeaten egg whites and roll in chopped pecans.
    Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet, using thumb to make depression in center of each ball and fill with jam or jelly. Bake at 325\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
