Stuffed Peppers - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 large green peppers
    1 lb. ground beef
    3 Tbsp. raw rice
    2 Tbsp. cold water
    1/2 tsp. black pepper
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1 c. chopped onions
    1 (29 oz.) can tomatoes, drained
    3 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1/2 c. grated onion
    1 egg, beaten
    2 1/2 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Wash peppers.
    Cut 1-inch piece from tops and reserve.
    Scoop out seeds and fibers.
    Mix together meat, grated onion, rice, egg, water, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper.
    Stuff mixture into peppers and replace tops.
    Heat oil in heavy saucepan.
    Saute chopped onions 10 minutes.
    Mix tomatoes, salt and pepper.
    Arrange peppers in upright position.
    On top, add lemon juice and sugar.
    Cover and cook 30 minutes or longer until tender.
    Baste frequently with sauce.
    Taste for seasoning.
    Gravy should be sweet and sour.
    Serves 6.
