Ingredients

1/2 lb. butter (sweet butter, optional)
1 1/2 c. sugar
4 extra large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 level tsp. baking powder
4 to 5 c. flour (approximately)
2 eggs, beaten (egg wash)
Preparation

Cream the butter for 15 minutes. Add sugar gradually and beat an additional 15 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla. Add baking powder, then add flour gradually, until it doesn't stick to your hands. Form dough into balls the size of a walnut. Roll dough with the palms of your hands to an 8-inch length.
Fold in half and give it a couple of twists.
Put on cookie sheet lined with tinfoil.
Brush with beaten egg (sesame seed optional).
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.
