Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 oz. red food coloring
2 Tbsp. cocoa
2 1/4 c. plain flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 Tbsp. vinegar
Preparation

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs.
Make a paste with food coloring and cocoa.
Add to mixture.
Add salt and flour alternately with buttermilk and vanilla.
Fold in soda and vinegar (blend together).
Bake 30 minutes in 350\u00b0 oven in 2 (8-inch) cake pans, well-greased and floured.
Layers may be split to make four. Frost with buttercream frosting or seven minute frosting.
