Quick Cherry Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. (2 sticks) butter or margarine
    1 tsp. almond extract
    1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
    1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
    4 eggs
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    powdered sugar (to dust over top; optional)
Preparation
    In mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
    Add eggs. Beat until light and fluffy.
    Add extract.
    Stir in flour and baking powder.
    Mix until smooth.
    Butter a 13 x 9-inch cake pan. Turn the mixture into the pan.
    Spoon the pie filling into the cake in 16 spots, spacing 4 spoonfuls evenly in each direction.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes or until golden and cake tests done.
    Cut into 16 pieces.
    Place bottom side up on plate.
    Dust with powdered sugar and add whipped cream.
    Serve warm.
