Four Hour Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. stew meat or chuck, cut up
    1 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 large onion, sliced
    4 carrots, cut in slant pieces
    2 stalks celery, cut in slant pieces
    2 Tbsp. minute tapioca
    1 c. tomato sauce
    1 garlic, crushed
    potatoes (optional)
Preparation
    Sprinkle salt, sugar and tapioca over meat.
    Add 1 cup tomato juice and crushed garlic.
    Put in casserole in layers.
    Bake at 250\u00b0.
    Add potatoes 1 hour before done.
    Push potatoes down into juice.
