English Toffee Bars - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. butter (may use 1/2 shortening)
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
finely chopped walnuts
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Add beaten egg, flour, salt and vanilla.
Spread 1/4-inch thick in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
Press down with a spoon or fingers.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
Melt the chocolate chips and spread over bars while still hot. Sprinkle with finely chopped walnuts.
