Autumn Apple Bread - cooking recipe

1/4 c. shortening
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
2 c. raw apples
1 Tbsp. lemon rind, grated
2/3 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy; beat in eggs.
Sift next 4 ingredients; add alternately with coarsely grated, peeled apples to egg mixture.
Stir in lemon rind and nuts. Bake in greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan at 350\u00b0 for 50 to 60 minutes.
Cool before slicing.
