Creamed Cabbage Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 (14 1/2 oz.) cans chicken broth
2 ribs celery, chopped
1 (3 lb.) cabbage, shredded
1 medium onion, chopped
1 carrot, chopped
1/4 c. butter
3 Tbsp. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 c. light cream
1 c. milk
2 c. cooked ham
1/2 tsp. thyme
Preparation

In a large kettle, combine first 5 ingredients; bring to a boil.
Reduce heat, cover and simmer until vegetables are tender. Meanwhile, melt butter in a medium pan.
Add flour, salt and pepper; stir to form a smooth paste.
Gradually add cream and milk to flour mixture, stirring constantly.
Cook until thickened. Continue cooking 1 minute longer.
Gradually stir into vegetables. Add ham and thyme; heat through.
Makes 8 to 10 servings.
