Peppermint Rounds - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter, softened
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 large egg
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. regular oats, uncooked
    1/3 c. hard peppermint candy, crushed
    powdered sugar

Preparation
    Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; gradually add sugar, beating well.
    Add egg and vanilla, beating well.
    Combine flour and salt; add to butter mixture. Stir in oats and candy.
    Cover and chill 1 hour.
    Divide dough in half.
    Roll each to 1/8-inch thickness on a surface dusted with powdered sugar.
    Cut with a 2 1/2-inch cookie cutter; place on greased, foil-lined cookie sheet.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool.
