Mom'S Bread Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. cubed dry bread
    4 c. scalded milk
    3/4 c. sugar
    2/3 stick butter
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 tsp. nutmeg
    4 slightly beaten eggs
    1/2 c. chopped apples (optional)
Preparation
    Soak cubed dry bread in scalded milk, 5 to 10 minutes.
    Add sugar, butter, salt, vanilla and nutmeg.
    Add slightly beaten eggs.
    Mix very well.
    Pour into greased 1 1/2-quart baking pan or glass baking dish.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 in pan for 1 hour or at 300\u00b0 in baking dish for 1 hour until firm.
    Cool and eat warm, add added touch if wanted, 1/2 cup chopped apples.
    This is an excellent pudding from generations.
