Real Good White Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. sour cream
    1/2 c. milk
    4 Tbsp. butter
    2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. coarse chopped nuts
    2/3 c. chopped candied cherries
Preparation
    Combine first 5 ingredients in heavy 4-quart saucepan.
    Stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved and reaches a boil. Boil for 10 to 15 minutes to softball stage (238\u00b0 candy thermometer).
    Remove from heat and cool to lukewarm about 45 minutes.
    Add vanilla and beat until begins to lose its gloss and holds its shape.
    Stir in nuts and cherries.
    Turn into a buttered 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Makes 5 pounds.
