Mom'S Fudge(Formerly Kathy'S Fudge) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    dash of salt
    1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
    1 tsp. Karo syrup (may be omitted)
    1 stick butter or oleo
Preparation
    Mix sugar, milk, cocoa and salt in a deep, heavy saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil.
    Stir constantly.
    Test for soft ball stage every 2 to 3 minutes.
    At the soft ball stage, remove from heat.
    Add butter, vanilla and Karo syrup.
    Beat with electric blender until glossy (4 to 5 minutes).
    Pour into a buttered platter to set.
