Neb'S Orange Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chopped dates, dust lightly with flour
2/3 c. buttermilk
2 Tbsp. grated orange rind
juice from 1 large orange or 2 small oranges
1/2 c. sugar

Preparation

Grease tube pan (medium size) or loaf pan and place wax paper in the bottom.
Grease again and dust lightly with flour.
Shake out excess flour.
Mix sugar, shortening, eggs and orange rind; add buttermilk and flour, soda and salt.
Add nuts and dates.
