Cherry Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. margarine
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. unsifted flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 can sour pitted cherries (undrained)
    1/2 c. sugar (additional)
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
    While oven heats, use to melt margarine in a 9-inch square pan.
    Blend in mixing bowl 1 cup sugar and baking powder; add milk and vanilla.
    Stir until smooth.
    Pour over melted margarine.
    Do not stir.
    Pour the cherries and syrup over flour mixture trying to distribute cherries evenly.
    Do not stir.
    Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar over cherries.
    Do not stir.
    Bake 1 hour.
