Peach Cobbler - cooking recipe

1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1 (No. 2) can peaches
1/4 to 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. fruit juice
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Mix sifted flour, baking powder and salt. Add alternately with milk. Beat until smooth. Pour in greased 10 x 6 x 2-inch (or 1 1/2-quart) baking pan. Spoon fruit over. Sprinkle with sugar. Pour juice over all. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes. Serve with whipped cream.
