Beef Tips And Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    2 lb. beef sirloin tip or round steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
    1 (10 1/2 oz.) can condensed beef consomme
    1/3 c. apple juice
    2 Tbsp. soy sauce
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1/4 tsp. onion salt
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/4 c. water
    2 c. hot cooked rice
Preparation
    Place roast in a pan which has a cover.
    Season both sides with salt and pepper.
    Cover the pan with foil, crimping edges around pan.
    Place the lid on the pan.
    Do not add water and do not peek!
    Bake 30 to 45 minutes per pound at 275\u00b0 if roast is thawed and at 300\u00b0 if roast is frozen.
