Company Pickle Chunks - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 medium cucumbers
    8 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mixed pickling spices
    4 c. cider vinegar
    5 tsp. coarse salt
Preparation
    Cover cucumbers with boiling water.
    Let stand until next morning.
    Drain.
    Repeat this procedure next 3 mornings.
    On the fifth day, drain and slice in 1/2-inch pieces.
    Combine remaining ingredients.
    Bring to boiling and pour over cucumbers. Let stand two days. On the third day, bring to boiling the cucumbers and liquid.
    Seal in hot jars.
    (It is best to use a stone crock for soaking.)
