Ingredients

1 c. butter or margarine
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 c. peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
Preparation

Cream butter and both sugars.
Add peanut butter and mix.
Add eggs and vanilla and beat together well.
Sift soda and flour together and add to the first mixture.
Mix well, roll into rectangular loaves and chill.
Slice, place on cookie sheet and press out with floured fork.
Dough freezes well with little or no thawing before it is sliced.
This dough makes a soft cookie or a crunchy cookie depending on baking time.
Very light color will produce a soft cookie, golden or medium brown will produce a crunchy cookie.
