Poor Folk'S Beans - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. pinto beans, cleaned and washed
1 gal. water (approximately)
3 Tbsp. bacon grease or shortening
3 Tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. black pepper
1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
2 to 3 tsp. salt
Preparation

Clean and wash pinto beans.
Put almost a gallon of water in large stewer or pressure cooker.
Put the beans in the water. Add bacon grease or shortening, chili powder and black pepper. Cook 45 minutes to an hour in pressure cooker or simmer until tender.
If using a stewer, cook for about 2 to 3 hours.
When done, add tomato sauce and salt.
Simmer until desired thickness is reached.
