Kraut - cooking recipe
Ingredients

cabbage
canning salt
sugar
vinegar
boiling water
chopped hot peppers (optional)
Preparation

Put 1 teaspoon salt in bottom of quart jar.
Fill with cut cabbage.
On top of cabbage, put 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon sugar and 1 teaspoon vinegar.
Fill jar until cabbage is covered.
Seal tight.
Let stand for a few weeks.
Jar may leak a bit the first week or so.
