Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. lard
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Mix sugar, egg, lard and molasses well with mixer.
Stir in rest of ingredients.
Roll in ball size of walnut.
Dip first in water, then in sugar.
Place sugar-side up on greased cookie sheet.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 375\u00b0.
Chill for 30 minutes in icebox.
