Classic Coffee Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. plain flour
    1/2 c. milk
    1 beaten egg
    1/4 c. melted shortening
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 recipe topping
Preparation
    Combine oil, egg and milk.
    Stir dry ingredients together; add milk mixture and mix well.
    Pour into greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan or 9-inch round pan.
    Sprinkle topping over batter.
    Serve warm.
