Barley Hot Dish - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. ground beef
    1 chopped onion
    1 to 2 stalks chopped celery
    3 Tbsp. oil
    salt and pepper
    1 tsp. marjoram
    1/2 bay leaf
    2 (1 lb.) cans tomatoes
    1 can mushroom soup
    3/4 c. barley
    1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    1 (1 lb.) can peas
    1 to 2 c. water (as needed)
Preparation
    Saute beef, onion and celery.
    Add rest of ingredients except water.
    Bring to boil; add water as needed.
    Barley expands and absorbs water as it cooks.
    Turn into shallow large roasting pan (4-quart).
    Cover with foil.
    Bake 1 hour or longer until barley is tender.
    Check and stir occasionally, adding water as needed.
