Mrs. Claus' Christmas Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. mixed beans
    3 qt. cold water
    3 carrots, chopped
    4 celery stalks, chopped
    2 medium onions, chopped
    1 tsp. black pepper
    1 whole bay leaf
    1 ham bone
Preparation
    Wash and soak bean mixture overnight.
    Drain off the water. Place beans in a soup pot.
    Add all other ingredients.
    Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 4 to 5 hours or all day.
