New England Clam Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. bacon, cut-up
    1/2 c. onion, chopped (about 1 medium onion)
    2 cans minced clams (6 1/2 oz. cans), drained and liquid reserved
    2 c. potatoes, diced (about 2 medium potatoes)
    dash of pepper
    2 c. pepper
Preparation
    Cook and stir bacon and onion in 2-quart saucepan until bacon is crisp.
    Add enough water, if necessary, to reserved clam liquid to measure 1 cup.
    Stir clams, clam liquid, potatoes and pepper into onion mixture.
