Congo Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 3/4 c. sifted flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. shortening
    2 1/4 c. light brown sugar
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt.
    Melt shortening, add brown sugar and stir until well mixed.
    Allow to cool slightly.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Add dry ingredients, nuts, chocolate and vanilla.
    Pour into greased 10 x 15-inch or 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
