Cherry Squares - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
3 sticks butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
cherry pie filling or peach, apple, etc.
ground nuts (if desired)
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour cream
Preparation

Mix first 3 ingredients with sugar, baking soda, eggs and sour cream.
Take 3/4 of the dough and spread into a greased jelly roll pan.
Spread on top with pie filling.
Roll out remaining dough on floured board and cut into strips.
Make lattice work on top. Brush top dough with egg whites and sprinkle with nuts if desired. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
