Yummy Refrigerator Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (7 1/2 oz.) box vanilla wafers
    3 Tbsp. melted butter
    3 eggs
    3 c. confectioners sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. softened butter
    1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
    No. 2 can crushed pineapple
    1/2 pt. cream for whipping
Preparation
    Crush vanilla wafers.
    Mix 1/2 of the crumbs with 2 tablespoons melted butter and spread in bottom of 8 or 9-inch square Pyrex dish.
    Beat eggs until frothy and add confectioners sugar, vanilla and 1/2 cup softened butter.
    Place egg mixture over crumbs; sprinkle 1/2 cup nuts over egg mixture.
    Top nuts with pineapple.
    Top pineapple with 1/2 pint stiffly beaten whipped cream.
    Sprinkle rest of cookie crumbs over whipped cream. Refrigerate for at least 12 hours.
    Top each serving with maraschino cherry.
