Ingredients

4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
4 egg yolks
1/2 stick butter, softened
dash of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
4 egg whites
6 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation

Put chocolate in saucepan.
Cover with 2 inches very hot tap water.
Cover.
Let stand 5 minutes or until chocolate is soft enough to stick toothpick through.
When chocolate is soft, but not dissolved, drain water.
Do not worry that some water clings.
Add yolks.
Stir with whisk and cook until thick.
Remove from heat. Add butter, salt and vanilla.
Mix well and cool.
Beat egg whites; gradually add sugar.
Beat until stiff.
Mix into chocolate. Serves 6.
