Garden Slaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. water
    1 envelope unflavored gelatin
    2/3 c. sugar
    2/3 c. vinegar
    2 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2/3 c. vegetable oil
    8 c. finely shredded cabbage
    2 finely shredded carrots
    1 green pepper cut in thin strips
    1/2 c. finely chopped onions
    1/2 c. cold water
Preparation
    To make the dressing, soften gelatin in 1/4 cup water.
    Mix sugar, vinegar and spices in saucepan and bring to a boil.
    Remove from heat and stir in softened gelatin.
    Cool until slightly thickened.
    Beat well.
    Gradually beat in oil.
