Kraut - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 to 5 cabbage heads, chopped
    3/4 c. salt
    1 c. vinegar
    1 gal. water
Preparation
    Put vinegar and salt in saucepan and boil until dissolved. You can add some water from the gallon to the vinegar and salt to help get dissolved.
    When salt is dissolved, add this to the remaining gallon of water.
    Pack sterilized jars with chopped cabbage and cover with solution, leaving 1/2-inch of space at the top of the jars.
    Put caps on jars and store in cool, dry place.
