Hamburger Barley Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. hamburger
    1 can tomato sauce
    1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
    7 c. water
    1/2 lb. string beans
    1 c. celery
    1 green pepper
    salt and pepper
    2 tsp. garlic powder
    2 Tbsp. soy sauce
    1/2 tsp. paprika (optional)
    1/2 tsp. thyme (optional)
    1/2 c. pearl barley
    1 c. or more potatoes, diced
    1 c. or more carrots, sliced
Preparation
    Brown hamburger; drain off fat.
    Pour in a large pot with all ingredients except potatoes and carrots.
    Simmer for 45 minutes. Put in carrots.
    Cook for 10 minutes.
    Add potatoes and cook for another 20 minutes or until done.
